LGBTQ Community Senator (1 Seat)
Glen Marques
Hello everyone! I am Glen Marques (he/him), a first-year student from Herndon, Virginia, and I am running to be your LGBTQ+ Community Senator.
As an LGBTQ+ student from a southern state where acceptance isn't always guaranteed, I come to Tufts with a lived understanding of how vital representation, safety, and affirmation truly are. That experience shapes how seriously I intend to take this role and my commitment to advocating for queer voices across campus.
I hope to bring consistent, student-centered advocacy to the TCU government—grounded in listening, collaboration, and accountability. I want to be an approachable bridge between LGBTQ+ students and the student government, especially for those who feel overlooked or hesitant to engage with formal institutions.
Through my past experiences in political campaigns and youth leadership, I've learned that meaningful change comes from listening first and working closely with the communities most impacted. As LGBTQ+ Community Senator, I would be committed to partnering with student organizations to ensure advocacy is driven by real needs rather than assumptions, particularly in the current political climate.
Above all, I am committed to making Tufts a safer, more affirming home for all queer students.
